UNIVERSITY CONFERENCE: MEDITATION, CREATIVITY, PEACE
Program events on Wednesday the 16th include Sound & Vision: The Lynch-ian Aesthetic, a symposium to discuss all aspects of the Lynch-ian aesthetic from picture to sound. We’ll be counting on industry expertise from the following speakers: film critic Jordi Costa, who will focus on the visual aspects of Lynch’s films; researcher José Luis Espejo, who will speak about sound design; and Gerardo Cartón, director of [PIAS] Spain (the recording company that produced the artist’s two latest LPs) who will analyze the musical facets of his work.
The symposium begins at 5pm at the one and only Ocho y Medio, Beloved madrileño bookstore and friends of Rizoma, it’s here where we invite you to explore and discover things you may not have previously been aware of about the multidisciplinary aspects of our invited artist’s work. This is a great alternative for those who cannot participate in the Master Class at the Escuela TAI (for which space is very limited) and also an opportunity to soak up more Lynchian wisdom before meeting the director when he presents his debut feature Eraserhead at the Filmoteca or at the Circulo de Bellas Artes farewell party, where we’ll say goodbye to our guest.
During David Lynch’s visit to Madrid with Rizoma, the University Carlos III of Madrid welcomed a special conference addressed to university community members inside the Assembly Hall of the Vice Chancellor’s Office. David Lynch wanted to make the most of this trip by speaking with young people to share his experience with practicing Transcendental Meditation for more than 40 years, his ideas about creativity, developing the full potential of human beings, and the innate brilliance in all students, especially in the realms of creativity, intelligence and the capacity to develop full cerebral potential. Lynch is thoroughly aware of the difficulties that face today’s youth and firmly believes that these are the tools to confront such obstacles o convert the future into a fascinating adventure of growth, success, fullness and peace.
